Driven is the parent company powered by the staff & athletes from the Green Beret Challenge. The name Driven is derived from watching our participants conquer their fears and take on some of the most difficult challenges in the industry with determination and resolve! Their willingness to succeed has empowered our entire community. What drives our racers - drives us.
We Are The Driven!
Background: After several years of producing obstacle course races and endurance challenges, the team behind the Green Beret Challenge (GBC) has created a parent events company to host all of their innovative events. According to Mark Ballas, founder of the GBC, “when the GBC began we would have never envisioned the lateral growth of the GBC". "We feel the growth, changes and re-branding will further define our programs and allow for more scalability to continue to Build Better Humans".
Founder & CEO
Mark Ballas is a former Special Forces Green Beret, Army Ranger with a 26-year culmination as a US Army Special Operations Soldier, Special Forces Instructor and government contractor. As an entrepreneur and product developer, Mark was featured in the Veteran’s Business Journal May/June 2005, for developing a life-sustaining invention brought to market in support of the military, first responder and professional security industries. Military assignments include the prestigious 7th Special Forces Group, and the distinguished 75th Ranger Regiment.
In 2012, Mark created the Green Beret Challenge, an aggressive 8-mile team challenge with the goal of building better humans. Mark is well-versed in applying military special operations concepts to outdoor enthusiasts, avid athletes and corporate America. He creates a positive atmosphere that engages participants in activities that promote health and fitness; building strength, confidence and self-esteem. Mark’s entrepreneurial spirit and experiences endured throughout his Special Operations career, led to the development of the Green Beret Challenge and his new venture, The Driven!
the driven family
Dawn Mostiler - Event / Volunteer Coordinator
Dawn joined up with Mark & the Green Beret Challenge in 2017 shortly after experiencing first hand some of the great work we were doing, "building better humans". She is the power behind everything we do and keeps Ballas in check, which is a full time job in itself.
Dawn's title doesn't begin to outline everything she does for us and there isn't enough room on this page to tell you. She is however, an invaluable asset we cherish and very lucky to have her on our team.
Behind the scenes, Dawn is busy being an Army wife, a Mom and most recently taking on powerlifting competitions. Follow Dawn as she is being Driven to explode onto the powerlifting circuit.
Rosie Archuleta Sanchez - Community Relations
Rosie also joined the GBC Team in 2016 after attending a couple of events. Rosie's sense of family and community has inspired the internal growth of the Green Beret Challenge community of athletes, participants, volunteers or friends. Rosie is very active in the shadows "making things happen" so WE can make things happen.
Rosie is a wife, Mother of 4, an OCR & Ruck enthusiast and a Veterans counselor. She is very busy outside The Driven "building better humans" for her family and her community.
